The Sheffield Elephant sculptures are made from Fibreglass. I found online there is a lot of manufactures that do ‘bespoke’ fibreglass moulding. Could be something to consider if we wanted this plastic look to the installation, and the benefit is it being lightweight. It just need to be secure enough to encase the printer etc.
Laws also uses fiberglass to make some of his huge sculptures. They are moulded into separate pieces that come together. Materials he uses range from fibreglass, aluminium, wood and bronze.
